  4. Read Me for Example Guide Files

  6. This folder contains all the guide files shipped with System 7.5.  Browse these guide files for ideas about how to use Apple Guide effectively.

  8. To view these guide files as an end-user sees them:
  9.  
  10. • open them from the help menu in System 7.5; or
  11. • drop them on the OpenGuide applet (in the Engineering:OpenGuide folder)

  13. To see information about Apple Guide’s operations as you view the files:
  14.  
  15. 1. Replace the Apple Guide system extension in your System Folder with Apple Guide Debug (in the Apple Guide 1.2 folder).

  17. 2. Open the guide files using the Guide Maker diagnose utility.
  18.  
  19. The Example Guide Files folder also includes a folder containing symbol (.SYM) files for many of the example guide files to make examining them with the Guide Maker diagnose utility easier.  To use the .SYM files:

  21. 1. Copy the related .SYM file into the same folder as the guide file being examined.

  23. 2. Open the guide file using the Guide Maker diagnose utility.
